Araracuara, closer to Chiribiquete 5 days, 4 nights.
In the heart of the Amazon, near the PNN Serranía de Chiribiquete, is the epicenter of indigenous cultures: Araracuara, cradle of the macaws and the ancestral grandparents Andokes, Yucunas, Karijonas, Muinanes, Nonuyas, Boras and Uitotos. Entering the deep jungle of this territory is knowing that we carry native blood in our veins and therefore it is necessary to return to our roots with wisdom; sharing the sweet word that the mambe and the ambí give us. If you feel the call of the jungle, you will notice that there is a small part of you that needs to connect with that energy that the macaws emanate when singing freely through the skies. You will understand the meaning of life by getting rid of material things. To travel to Araracuara, all we need is our presence, our cell phone, the repellent and some super comfortable changes of clothes. Our toiletries will not be necessary, since we will learn to use those from the jungle, hence we will return to our ancestors. with its power plants, its typical food, sacred places, oral tradition and word circles inside the Malocas. The Andoke community awaits you in this green corner of Colombia, in the foothills of Chiribiquete, to remember together the journey of the ancestors, hand in hand with grandfather Tabaco and mother Coca.

IMPORTANT - Context of the territory

Our department has one of the largest water resources in the country, it is home to nearly 80% of the Chiribiquete PNN and has its own sacred and pristine places for enjoyment and contemplation through nature tourism, and in this alternative, is where the hope to safeguard culture and preserve our ecosystems.
When you arrive at Caquetá, you can see from the air the golden gate (entrance) of the Colombian Amazon. In the territory you can feel the climates, cold, warm and temperate. They eat good fish and pineapple. Our way of speaking has a strong accent at the ends of words.
It is important to take into account that, before the conquest and the colonizing processes carried out in the Amazon region, the indigenous communities lived in abundance, they did not have diseases, they lived together in the best way and, especially their ancestry, allowed them to pass from generation to generation. the teachings of life and nature; Later, this culture of abundance would be overshadowed by colonial phenomena and illegal economies, clearly influencing transculturation; changing the abundance mentality to the money mentality. The armed conflict and illegal mining in the 80's and 90's unleashed a series of sociocultural, environmental and economic problems that today are the object of resilience and mitigation by our native peoples of Araracuara.
When we arrive at the indigenous communities we will see them with ordinary clothes like that of any person (a product of cultural affectation in the past) except, if it is a traditional event, at that time they wear typical costumes, therefore, we will NOT find semi-naked indigenous people or something like that. The gastronomy is based on fish such as: Bocachico, cachama, sábalo, gamitana or catfish such as lechero, pintadillo and chontaduro, on the other hand, if you are totally willing to a cultural immersion, you will eat fariña, casabe, cahuana, you will try the mambe and the ambíl (taking into account the recommendations of the indigenous grandparents).
For indigenous communities, chili pepper, cassava brava and Amazonian fruits such as arazá, copoazú, asaí and canangucha, among others, are predominant in their diet. On our journey we will not find luxury in the jungle, our accommodation will be within the reservation, where you and no one else but you will get to know firsthand what it is like to be and live as an indigenous person in the extensive jungles of Araracuara. You will meet humble people, with a big heart, who will share the best anecdotes and stories lived in the bush.

It is important to apply 2 cm of B complex or Thiamine 3 days before the expedition to avoid mosquito bites during the day and mosquito bites at night, or if you prefer, buy NOPIKEX repellent. We also recommend clothing that covers the arms and legs completely and light colors (quick drying preferably) NOTHING dark colors, that attracts flies and mosquitoes impressively, super comfortable, loose clothing, nothing close to the body, the looser the better, a kettle that covers the back of the neck , sunscreen, buff ideal for when the mosquitoes are very agitated during the day, swimsuit and jacket to rest, sleeping (good coat) at night in the jungle there is a lot of wind (through the rivers).
The boats used for the expedition have capacity for 15 people and will be our means of navigation on the Caquetá and Yarí rivers. Taking into account the considerations mentioned above, you will have an unforgettable experience in this virgin and ancestral corner of Colombia.

Thanks to your visit you will be helping the growth and sustainable development of indigenous communities that little by little see in tourism a hope to safeguard culture and biodiversity and at the same time be co-managers in the continuous improvement of their quality of life.
